A young woman travels all the way to Scotland to escape her sordid past. Once there she’d inundated by ghosts of every sort and asked for the type of help that only she can provide. Clarissa becomes close to the children that she watches over, the cook who teaches her the way of the Scottish and even the ghost who begs for her help but will Master William Kirkland be as enthralled with her as the rest of the household? And what’s the connection between him and the specters that refuse to leave his property?

Excerpt:

“All right, children. Go on out and play. I want to speak with your new governess before dinner. Not a word from either of you. Be gone and you’ll earn some dessert tonight.”

The deep baritone in his voice dissolved what little professionalism she had left. He stood straight and tall at about six foot three. His hair was dark sable, shoulder length and tied back a nice butt too. She’d always had a thing for men’s butts.

Feeling bold she approached Master Kirkland from behind and raised her hand to shake his. “I’m Clarissa Randolph. Nice to meet you.”

He turned and their eyes met. Neither said a word for several seconds. She pulled her hand back so quick it was almost rude. It’s Jordan. He looks exactly like Jordan. How could this be?

“Master William Jordan Kirkland at your service.” He bowed down when he said this. “Mrs. Walmier tells me that the children love you.” His lips turned up into the most gorgeous smile.

“What have you done to them?” His grin became a full-fledged smile when he said.

“I suppose you brought a paddle all the way from America?”

His laughter filled the room.

“They are lovely children, Sir. Just needed a bit of structure is all. I appreciate the opportunity you’ve given me.”

“Oh no, Miss. Randolph, it is you I appreciate. I wondered how long it would take for a governess to understand my children.” A robust laugh escaped his lips. “I know what a handful they can be. I also know they are curious, intelligent and lots of fun once you corral them. I myself learn from them each and every day. I’ve missed them completely.”

His left eyebrow rose, “You’ve seen the ghost?”

“Sir?”

“I can see it in your eyes. All who have seen the ghost claim we share similarities in person. And what is your opinion? Who is the most handsome?”
