We all deal with stuff- get over it right?

Posted By Kissa

It’s true; we all go through bad and good things in our lives. I’ve had my share of mishaps lately including having a sickness that doesn’t seem to want to leave. I know people right at this moment who are going through divorces, losing their homes and jobless. I just have to wonder- at what point do we grab our big girl panties and move on?

All authors have had a reviewer, publisher or crit partner who didn’t like something they wrote. How much advice can you and should you take? That’s a personal preference of course. I get a lot of great feedback from friends and beta readers when I’m working on a story. They find commas I miss (commas are the devil!), they find places I left things out and sometimes they don’t like the scene I’ve set. Many times I reread the passage and understand what they missed or why they didn’t warm up to it but there are times when I agree to disagree and move forward. If these things ever happen consistently I know something is going on with my writing style. At that point I have to move on and figure out how to do it right the first time. Some people just never make it to that shining light moment. So I have to ask… when do you know it’s time to stop dwelling on something and move forward in your life? Be it writing, a relationship or even life in general?
