Thanks for commenting Amy. You make some very good points. I've always thoughts that customer service was a big key in online and everyday purchases as well.

Forgot to say, I WILL read the authors' books - but those with other publishers only, not the pubs who treat authors like crap.

I like Phaze, Torquere, and Changeling. They seem to have several of the authors I purchase consistently, and I find that what I have purchased from them has been well-written and edited. I've also had interaction with customer service from the first two, and have been very satisfied. There are probably 4-5 others that I purchase from reasonably often, and am nearly as satisfied, but they may not have the number of authors or releases to put them in my top 3 list.

I will say I have found 3-4 epubs that have books with really interesting storylines/blurbs in some favorite genres, but what I have purchased has been lackluster writing and/or poor or non-existent editing. I'll give a pub 2-3 (maybe 4) tries if a release really grabs me, but if all are crap, I won't try again. And if I hear from several sources that a publisher treats (even some of) their authors poorly, I don't buy from them. Period. Even if they have a few individual authors that I like, I'd rather not support the business. There are plenty of good reads out there that I don't need to compromise my views to have enough to read.
