I’d like to get some feedback on publishers that authors love. Please don’t comment on any problems or advise against a certain publisher. We’ll go with the- “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything” phrase. I know there are a ton of spectacular publishers out there and this is your chance to pimp your favorite one, or two, or three….
My favorite publisher is Samhain.
What is it you like about Samhain Zarifina?
I like Phaze, Torquere, and Changeling. They seem to have several of the authors I purchase consistently, and I find that what I have purchased from them has been well-written and edited. I’ve also had interaction with customer service from the first two, and have been very satisfied. There are probably 4-5 others that I purchase from reasonably often, and am nearly as satisfied, but they may not have the number of authors or releases to put them in my top 3 list.
I will say I have found 3-4 epubs that have books with really interesting storylines/blurbs in some favorite genres, but what I have purchased has been lackluster writing and/or poor or non-existent editing. I’ll give a pub 2-3 (maybe 4) tries if a release really grabs me, but if all are crap, I won’t try again. And if I hear from several sources that a publisher treats (even some of) their authors poorly, I don’t buy from them. Period. Even if they have a few individual authors that I like, I’d rather not support the business. There are plenty of good reads out there that I don’t need to compromise my views to have enough to read.
Forgot to say, I WILL read the authors’ books – but those with other publishers only, not the pubs who treat authors like crap.
Thanks for commenting Amy. You make some very good points. I’ve always thoughts that customer service was a big key in online and everyday purchases as well.
