A few days ago another writer and I were talking and she said, “Can you believe we’ve known each other for almost two years now?” Umm, hmmm. No, I can’t. I feel like I’ve been writing forever. It’s become such an integral part of not only my daily routine but my life that I can’t remember a time without it. This made me think deeper into the subject…
My very first published work was Candy Kisses with Twilight Fantasies Publishing in June 2007. Wait, this is only 2009. That means I’ve actually only been ‘out there’ as an author for less than two years. How could that possibly be right? I remember signing that first contract in January 1, 2007 and I remember submitting the story at the end of December 2006. Okay, that still only puts me in this crazy world we call publishing for just over two years. It blows my mind.
All of this got me thinking of what I’ve accomplished in this relatively short period of time. So this post is a KUDOS to me of sorts. Way to go Kissa!
I’ve sold/contracted 13 works as of 2-16-09:
*Candy Kisses- Twilight Fantasies Publishing (I won’t list the ones that I contracted but never published with them since they’ve since gone on to different homes. This one, for some reason, I have yet to submit again)
*Profiling- Steamy Audio Publishing (this one has yet to open but I was paid for it so I’m counting it.)
*Geisha Girl- Atria Books/Simon & Schuster (this is and will always be the very first hardback book containing partly my work)
*Sweet Tea Maggie- Freya’s Bower Publishing (part of the OTOG anthology and my first attempt at sweet romance)
*Search for the Brown Boobies- Island Girls- Alyson Books (my first sale with Alyson- so exciting. Hoping for a long relationship with them)
*PS- I Love You- Alyson Books (my second sale with Alyson and my first story in a ‘best of’ collection)
*Robert’s Story- Red Rose Publishing (my first sale to Red Rose and one that will launch a series of books about lifestyle couples)
*Carl’s Story- Red Rose Publishing (the second in the lifestyle series)
*Swing Pointe- Red Rose Publishing (a fun story that I got an idea for after watching a show about swingers)
*Goldi- Red Rose Publishing (this was a revamp of a book I had initially with Dark Eden. It was only out two weeks before they closed. I’ll be so glad to see its release in May)
*Celtic Destiny- Lyrical Press, Inc. (my first published novella and my first ghosts story)
*Love Angel- Whiskey Creek Press Torrid (my first attempt at romantic comedy)
*Toy Box- vibrator.com contest win (including this also since I was paid $100)
Wow. I’m not sure I would have thought it was that many unless I’d listed them.
And now for the Submissions I have out:
*An Act of Passion- this is a lesbian story to be submitted as part of the Sapphic Planet Anthology, no publisher yet
*Busted- I’ve submitted this one to Cleis Press for consideration to be part of a voyeur anthology
*I Heart You- a short story on lesbian marriage- this one went to Alyson Books to be considered to be in their 2010 Best of Erotica anthology
*Vegas Vixens 4Ever- this will hopefully be part of a lesbian marriage anthology from Love You Divine. All of the proceeds go to charity.
*Lesson Learned- a vampire story -this is another short I sent to Cleis Press as part of an anthology
*Helga House- a short story on corporal punishment- I recently submitted this to an ezine, wish me luck
*Angel’s Wish- lesbian time travel I’ve submitted this to a new publisher that I’ve never worked with before, more news later
*Cracker Cowgirl- a lesbian cowgirl story that I’ve submitted to Red Rose Publishing
8 Submissions- I’m sure I won’t sell all of these the first time through but hopefully eventually they’ll all end up published.
I’ve made friends galore in writing forums, groups, and at Kissa’s Karma Korner. I couldn’t ask for more.
I am so happy for you and there is a little green part of me who wants to be you. I can’t seem to get to my writing with my life. I hope after school lets out in April that I will be able to finish my book and submit it.
You can do it, Tami! Let me know if you need help with commas or something!
Kissa, it is an honor to be your friend….you have grown as an author in the time we have know one another..you have become one amazing author and I know you will be huge one day…
